The Friday Five, 10/23/26: 5 things I've been up to this week

Everyone in my family just finished getting over the plague (not really, I'm being dramatic, but it certainly felt like that), which is why there was no Friday Five last week. This week was better in terms of sickness, but still busy.

What I've been up to the past two weeks:
  1. Plague. Last Thursday, I was sick, but thankfully only for a day or two; on Friday, my daughter couldn't keep down food, and we ended up going to the ER at the end of the day (where she, of course, was able to keep down food, and she's fine now); and then starting Saturday, my husband was sick. My MIL is awesome and ended up coming in from Indiana to help us out for a bit, and thankfully everyone is healthy now, I'd say.
  2. Yelp pickup event at Onezo. My MIL came in on Sunday, and I was finally able to leave the house a bit. Yelp Detroit was doing a pickup event at Hers Zakka Market & Onezo Cafe, in Novi, so I met a friend there and got my free karaage chicken (small, like three pieces) and floral tea, plus they threw in a Yelp bento box. I also ordered some bubble tea to go—the Troy location is one of my favorite bubble tea places, and I usually get the brown sugar milk tea, plus I got a Biscoff one for my husband.
  3. Maybe Happy Ending at the Fisher Theatre. On Wednesday, another friend and I went to the Fisher in Detroit to see Maybe Happy Ending. I didn't know much about it going in, and I was pleasantly surprised: it had a lot of heart and was one of the most original stories I've seen lately, about humanoid robots in Korea. It's playing through Nov. 1 there, and you can find more info in my blog post here.
  4. Getting takeout/delivery/eating out. I think we got La Marsa sometime last weekend, I believe Friday before the ER, and I went to Onezo on Sunday night, as mentioned above. On Wednesday night, before the show, my friend and I went to Taco Bros—I had gotten takeout once from there, maybe a few years ago when it opened, and the tacos are good and prices are reasonable too, it was about $10 for three large tacos. I think I liked the Al Pastor taco best, as it had tiny chunks of pineapple in it; then steak; and then chicken. The last time I was there I got the quesabirria and that was really good, with the dipping sauce, but I didn't want to risk it while on the way to a show, LOL. And finally, last night my MIL picked up Domino's takeout for us, and we have a lot of leftovers, so I may have that today for lunch too.
  5. Watching TV shows. Nobody Wants This dropped a new season yesterday and I binged it; I'm sad I don't have any more to watch of it today, but it was pretty good, and I'm curious to see if they'll do a fourth season (this was season three). I watched the new Abbott Elementary last night, and I'm also caught up on War and Love is Blind. Hoping to watch Scrubs and maybe Who Wants to Be a Millionaire tonight, and then I need to return to Best Medicine on Hulu, as I started it and then "wandered off" a bit to new eps of the shows listed above.
