The Friday Five, 9/12/25: 5 things I've been up to this week
September is flying by, and our one-year marriage anniversary is coming up Monday too (September 15th) ... it's a busy month!

Homemade card from a family friend |
What I've been up to this week:
- Opening gifts. A family friend gave us the gorgeous homemade card below (she sends these for every holiday/birthday/etc., they are so nice!) plus some onesies for Baby K and a piggy bank (but it looked like a cat!) with Baby K's name on it. A neighbor of my parents gave us a cash gift, too, and another friend of theirs gave us some very nice baby blankets and a cute robe for after bath time —which reminds me, we need to bathe our kid, LOL, as she needs one once per week.
- Doctors appointments. Basically this the only time we leave the house, haha. I had an OB appointment last week, a lactation consultant appointment this week, and technically two appointments with my PCP yesterday, one for Baby K and one for me. My doctor wants me to get an ultrasound for my legs and feet because the swelling in my feet has still not gone down postpartum ... for most women it goes away within one to two weeks, I guess, and it's been four weeks. Unfortunately the Beaumont (I will never call it Corewell, LOL) locations closest to me, in WB and FH, are booked until next Thursday and Friday, so I have to shlep to Royal Oak today instead ... I'm familiar with that location because I used to have my GI appointments there, but it's about a half-hour drive for me.
- Getting takeout. My MIL picked up La Marsa for us last Friday, which was tasty, and we had Wendy's at one point over the weekend too. On Saturday, we got delivery from Royal Thai, in Bingham Farms, one of my favorites because they have mango sticky rice. Yesterday, we were already out for the doctor appointments, so I picked up The Great Greek gyros for us, which I think we had last week too, but they are tasty and I had some reward money to use there. My MIL also cooked a Green Chef meal for us which was good too, a chicken piccata dish with pasta, and we still have a tacos dish to cook.
- Going to Meijer! Pre-baby this would not have been a big deal, but it was my first time navigating Meijer alone, since my husband stayed home with Baby K, and about three weeks ago I could barely walk to the mailbox, since I had a C-section. I was able to purchase everything we needed and I also went to The UPS Store and CVS that day too, just to drop off a package/pick up an online order, so I wasn't sure how tired I'd be for Meijer.
- Picking up my car. In last week's Friday Five I wrote about how my car was getting fixed, and it was finally ready on Thursday (yesterday), which was good because we only had my husband's car here vs. having two cars.
