The Friday Five, 3/6/26: 5 things I've been up to this week

Well, the first week of March went by FAST, and I'm headed to Orlando on Sunday for work, for a candy convention.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Seeing The Outsiders at the Fisher. I didn't know much about The Outsiders going into it, except I believe I read the book back in high school, and it's also a movie (released in 1983) with a pretty A-list cast. I saw the musical on Wednesday, with a friend, which ended up being pretty fantastic, and I'd highly recommend it; it's a sad story but also very compelling. It'll be at the Fisher until March 15.
  2. Seeing Bert Kreischer at the Fox. About a month ago, I started watching a show called Free Bert on Netflix. My husband saw me watching it and said, hey, that's the Machine! (aka, he recognized him because Berk Kreischer is a real-life comic)
I looked Bert up online and saw he would be at the Fox on the 2nd and 3rd stops of his new tour, and we were able to get tickets for his show this past Saturday night, with a friend babysitting. He was pretty funny and so were his openers ... I like him a lot, he reminds me of Jim Gaffigan (another comic I like a lot) but a bit more R-rated. I also have watched most of his Netflix specials at this point and his other works, and hope to see him again in-person another time.
  3. Dining out (!) and getting delivery. Last Saturday I had booked us some senior dinner reservations (4pm, lol) at Aurora, in West Bloomfield, because it had been on my list to try—it ended up being very good, especially the tableside Caesar salad (although crazy pricey, at $20 per person), which was one of the reasons I had wanted to try it. I also had a tasty truffle pasta, with filet mignon chunks, and we had tiramisu for dessert. My husband had a tiramisu martini for his dessert, and that was pretty good too, although I only had a sip since I was driving and had consumed one other cocktail. I would return again, and they have another location too, Aurora on the Lake, in Commerce Twp., which used to be A Matter of Taste.
We also got Noori via Doordash last night, for dinner, and on Wed. my friend brought over Culver's takeout for us to eat before The Outsiders, since we were on a bit of a time crunch.
  4. Watching TV shows. I caught up on Shrinking and Abbott Elementary yesterday and I also watched the weddings episode of Love is Blind this week. I forgot Paradise now has new episodes weekly, too, so if I'm lucky, maybe I can fit that in today. I am behind on Industry and The Last Thing He Told Me, still, and there's a new Elsbeth today presumably. Oh and the Scrubs reboot launched last week and I enjoyed it a lot! I was a huge fan of the 2001 version and this felt similar to me.
  5. Prepping for a work trip (yes, again). I go to Orlando on Sunday for the State of the Industry in Chocolate, which is more of a "sitting and listening" convention vs. me having meetings (nice change of pace usually). This will be my third time going, but the past two years it has been in Miami, so this is a change of venue. I will also meet up with my husband's aunt and uncle who live down there, for dinner on Monday, which will be nice; they came up to Michigan to visit when Baby K was about three months old, as well.
