The Friday Five, 7/17/26: 5 things I've been up to this week

I have had a lot of doctor's appointments and random things this week but other than that, not much going on, except trying to live through this wildfire smoke that we are getting from Canada—it's supposed to be better today, but I tried to get Baby K into the car fast after daycare yesterday because I didn't want her to be exposed much, either.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Yelp pick-up event at Einstein Bros. Bagels, Bloomfield Hills. This was available at three locations—Royal Oak, Ann Arbor, and Bloomfield Hills—and I chose Bloomfield Hills thinking it was the location at Maple and Telegraph, but it was actually at Woodward and Lone Pine, so about a 20-min. drive. I brought Baby K and my mother-in-law, my husband was traveling for work over the weekend so she came in to help me with the baby, which was very nice of her. We got a baker's dozen (13 bagels) plus a tub of shmear (cream cheese) and a drink for free—I chose a strawberry banana smoothie, pictured above—and I also bought an iced coffee for my MIL. The bagels were very good and I still have a chocolate chip one left (RIP, Panera's chocolate chip bagels ...) which I'll probably eat today or tomorrow.
  2. Tigers vs. Philly game at Comerica Park. This was only my third time at the ballpark, and for this time plus the previous, I was invited by HI-CHEW, a candy brand that we write about for work. This year, they had a suite, and now I'm super spoiled—we had our own little sitting area where we could see the game (outside) plus an indoor suite, basically a room with its own bathroom, and food was catered, as well ... I had a hot dog, soft pretzel, and a few other things. The Tigers won the game 10-2, which apparently is unusual (five runs in one inning, too!) and overall it was a fun time.
  3. Eating tasty food. I had a lot of different foods at the game on Friday, and on Saturday or Sunday, I believe, I got The Great Greek takeout for my MIL and I—use code BOGO this month still for BOGO gyros, either beef/lamb, chicken, or falafel—and on Monday, she got us Culver's takeout, which was a nice treat to enjoy for lunch during work, for me. My husband came back Monday night, so my MIL and I picked up Domino's takeout after getting Baby K from daycare, also.
  4. Watching TV shows. I finished Every Year After, on Prime, and now I want to read the book. I started The Five Star Weekend, on Peacock, which is also based on a book (by Elin Hilderbrand) and I have about a half-hour left in the final episode of that. Speaking of Peacock, Married at First Sight is now on that platform, instead of Lifetime, and I'm not sure I am liking the new season yet: they got to the weddings super fast, which I guess is good, but there's one groom who was actually on The Circle too (a Netflix reality show) plus a few others, so I'm having trouble taking him seriously. I also started Lucky, with Anya Taylor-Joy, on AppleTV, and I want to watch Ride or Die on Prime, too.
  5. Having a friend babysit Baby K. I've run out of things to talk about this week, so I'll throw this one in here. I have a friend who is awesome and has babysat for us (and Baby K) a few times now, and Baby K had a great time with her on Friday night while my MIL and I were at the Tigers game. She has two chihuahua's, and one of them curled up with the baby while she was napping; they later apparently became BFFs. She also has a ton of toys, books, etc., because she has a niece she often babysits, and Baby K always has a great time there.
